I also play harp and sing at memory care communities. It is remarkable to see how a familiar melody can light up someone’s face and inspire them to participate. Sometimes a song from their youth brings back a familiar musical pattern, and suddenly they begin singing along from memory.

Many of these programs are offered on a volunteer basis or at special community rates. I volunteer because I believe music can bring comfort, connection, and joy, and I want to share my gift with the community.

The inspiration behind Happy Harp is simple: to share the beauty of harp music with as many people as I can. My goal is to take listeners on the emotional journey of a song and let them experience the joy and connection that live music can bring. Yet, not everyone is able to attend a concert hall. I want to reach those people so they don’t miss out on the uplifting experience of live music.

This belief inspired my own community outreach program, Happy Harp, through which I perform at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, memory care units, and cancer treatment centers. These performances allow me to bring the magic of live music to people who may not be able to travel to a concert.

I especially love performing in cancer treatment centers. Every time I play, I am reminded of how comforting music can be during difficult moments. It is deeply meaningful to know that my music can provide a moment of beauty, comfort, or respite during someone’s day.

I also believe that preserving classical music means preserving art, history, and a living memory. That is why I value performing with and for community orchestras, high schools, junior colleges, and universities. Sharing live music in these settings contributes to the cultural and artistic life of the community while helping new generations experience the music firsthand.
